Terms & Conditions — Just A Notepad

We wrote this in plain language on purpose. We want you to actually read and understand it — not scroll past it. It's short, honest, and fair. By purchasing and using Just A Notepad, you enter into a binding agreement with Barb The Builder and accept all conditions set forth herein.

Agreement 1

What You're Buying

Just A Notepad is a single HTML file — a private, encrypted notepad application that runs entirely in your web browser and can also be installed directly on your phone or desktop home screen as a fully functioning app, just like any app you'd download from a store. No Play Store, no App Store needed — just follow our simple setup instructions included with your purchase.

You are not buying ownership of the source code, and you may not resell, redistribute, copy, or share the file with others. Each purchase is for one person.

In simple terms: This is a personal license. One purchase, one user. 💛

What Just A Notepad Does

Just A Notepad includes the following features:

A quick notepad with auto-save
Voice dictation via your browser's built-in speech recognition (Take Down Notes)
Text-to-speech that reads your notes out loud (Brief Me)
A hidden private journal protected by a PIN (Secret Vault)
AES-GCM 256-bit encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation at 600,000 iterations
Three visual themes — Executive, Pearl, and Fluid Cobalt
Encrypted backup export and restore
PWA installation support for offline use

All data is stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server. No account is required.

Agreement 3

Your PIN — Please Read This

⚠️ There is no PIN recovery option — by design.

Just A Notepad uses your PIN to encrypt and decrypt your private data. This means:

If you forget your PIN, your encrypted data cannot be recovered — not by you, not by us, not by anyone.
There is no "forgot PIN" button, no backup email, no support ticket that can recover your data.
This is intentional. It is what "truly private" means.

We strongly recommend you write your PIN down and store it somewhere safe. You are fully responsible for remembering your PIN.

      In simple terms: Please don't forget your PIN. We genuinely cannot help you if you do.
    

Agreement 4

Limitations, Disclaimer & Voice Features

Just A Notepad is provided "as is." While we have done our best to build a secure, reliable, and well-tested product, we cannot guarantee:

That the app will work perfectly on every browser or device
That your data will never be lost due to browser or device behavior
That voice features will work in all environments

To the extent permitted by law, Barb The Builder is not liable for any loss of data, loss of income, or any other damages arising from the use or inability to use Just A Notepad.

The voice dictation feature (Take Down Notes) and text-to-speech feature (Brief Me) use your browser's built-in Web Speech API.

On some browsers, voice recognition may use external servers and may require an internet connection.
Just A Notepad itself does not send your voice data anywhere — however, the browser you use may process voice data through its own speech recognition service.
We recommend checking your browser's privacy policy if this is a concern for you.
The rest of the app — notes, journal, backup, themes — works completely offline.

Data & Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Here is exactly what happens with your data:

All your notes, journal entries, and photos are stored on your device only — in your browser's local storage.
We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal data.
We do not use analytics, tracking cookies, or any third-party services inside the app.
Your encryption key is derived from your PIN and never leaves your device.
Even we cannot read your encrypted data.

      In simple terms: Your notes are yours. We literally cannot see them even if we wanted to.
    

Agreement 6

Data Loss & Backups

All data created within Just A Notepad is stored exclusively on the user's device. The purchaser assumes full responsibility for the preservation and safekeeping of their data.

We are not responsible for data loss caused by browser behavior, device failure, or accidental deletion.

The application includes a built-in Export Backup feature that allows users to generate an encrypted copy of their data at any time. The use of this feature is strongly advised.

Agreement 7

Valid Email Address Requirement

For purchases made via GCash or Bank Transfer, the purchaser is required to provide a valid and active email address in order to receive their download link. The download link will be sent exclusively to the email address provided by the purchaser.

Barb The Builder is not responsible for non-delivery of the product caused by an incorrect, inactive, or inaccessible email address provided by the purchaser. It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that the email address submitted is accurate and operational prior to requesting delivery.

      Please double-check your email address before sending it to us. We can only deliver to the address you provide.

Refund Policy

Because Just A Notepad is a digital product, all sales are final. We do not offer refunds once the file has been delivered to the purchaser.

Intellectual Property

You may not:

Copy, modify, or reverse-engineer the source code
Resell or redistribute the file
Use the Barb The Builder name or branding without permission
Create derivative products based on Just A Notepad

By purchasing and using Just A Notepad, you enter into a binding agreement with Barb The Builder and accept all conditions set forth herein.
